The 2018 Reunion is scheduled for Wednesday 3 October, through Monday 8 October, 2018 in Reno, Nevada. The host hotel will be the Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa. The base room rate for Wed. / 03, Thurs. / 04, Sun. / 07 and Mon. / 08 would be $79 plus current sales tax and tourism tax, for a total of $91.27 per night. The base room rate for Fri. / 05 and Sat. / 06 would be $129 plus current sales tax and tourism tax, for a total of $147.77 per night.
Upgrades in rooms are available. The hotel will provide us a Hospitality Suite and a Memorabilia Room. I’m anticipating that the Memorabilia Room and Hospitality Suite will be available Thursday, 12 noon until Monday, 12 noon.
The Banquet will be held on Saturday, from 1800 hrs. to 2200 hrs. I estimate that the Banquet food cost would be approximately $55. per person.
I’m proposing that on Friday we have a tour of the Nevada Army Air Guard Helicopter Facility, located at the Reno Stead Airport, with the possibility of a same-day tour of the private Harrah’s Military Museum. Approximate costs for transportation would be $11.00 per person for 60 participants.
I am also in contact with VietnamHelicopters.org to see if their UH-1H might be available to us for rides, staging out of the Air Guard Facility, at Reno Stead on Friday. That is IF the aircraft is available, and that we have 60 guests that would want to ride. I’m estimating there could be a cost of $50. per person, including any family members for this ride.
I would now like to know if I should continue to pursue the Stead, Military Museum, and Helicopter Ride options?
For Sunday, I’d also like to suggest a Lake Tahoe sightseeing luncheon cruise on the M.S. Dixie II paddlewheel boat (leave hotel at 0930 , return at 1500 hrs.) with a 2 hour cruise on the Lake. Estimated price per person is $125. with a minimum of 45 guests. My wife and I have done the dinner cruise and everyone on board enjoyed it. Another possible tour would be to historical Virginia City, by bus. Depending on type of tour options, this would be $72.00 with lunch (6 hrs.) or $46.00 without lunch, 18 guests min. Although I don’t play, golf is another option.
